I live here and they used the wrong wood which caused the spire to become crooked. Local legend says that when a virgin is married in the church the spire shall straighten

There are lots of churches like this in France. We call this "clocher tors". Example : Eglise Saint Maurice, Mervans

Its in England and its known locally as the crooked spire. The legend behind it was that a priest was in the church when satan appeared before him. The priest ran up the spire to escape so fast that it twisted as he went round it. Well, thats the story I was told anyway, there are a bunch of others, mostly including the devil. One of them says that a true virgin was married in the church and the church was so surprised it jumped and bent its spire out of shape.
